The hotel has a wine cellar located just off the restaurant, which seats a maximum of 12, and works really well with the private dining room just next door. Wine tasting can be offered here or, if there are more than 12 people, on the conference floor. This is a fantastic hotel best suited to smaller meetings and especially those looking for a little luxury. The hotel does not have its own car park however the Mailbox car park is housed in the same building so is very easily accessible. The the meeting rooms are a little dark however additional lighting could be sourced if necessary.

The hotel is located in the Jewellery quarter of the city and has a traditional feel to it. The reception has a grand staircase which leads up to some of the bedrooms. The Hotel Du Vin has a small number of meeting spaces, the largest of which has lots of natural daylight and can hold up to 90 delegates theatre style. The venue has a courtyard situated in the middle of the venue and has the option to cover this with a glass retractable roof, this would be a lovely space for lunches and events during the summer months or great to use as breakout space. The venue has its own pub which is a lovely space and would be a great for exclusive use for parties. The venue is mainly geared towards dinners and parties however the smaller meeting rooms would be good for a small board meeting. Some of the smaller meeting rooms can appear to be dark due to the low lighting however this can rectified and additional lighting can be supplied is necessary.
The Studio Birmingham
The Studio Birmingham has been nicknamed “The Tardis” due to its deceptive size. From the outside the venue is just a small doorway located on one of the streets just off the high-street, but once you get inside it is a 4 floor meetings and events centre. There is a huge amount of flexible space at this venue, allowing them to cover almost any eventuality up to 220 theatre. Their largest capacity room, the Explore room, has incredible in-built AV and the natural daylight throughout the venue is fantastic. The venue as a whole is modern, funky and quirky and has a relaxed and welcoming environment- mainly due to the kind and relaxed mentality of the venues staff. There are also two “play” rooms that are creative areas with beanbags and bright and quirky décor- these areas are great for creative brainstorming or informal meetings. They also have an understanding with a nearby hotel so that they can offer a 24hour rate which is unusual for a venue without on-site bedrooms. I feel that The Studio in Birmingham is a great venue, but may not be suitable for clients who are seeking a more traditional feel.
MacDonald Birmingham
The MacDonald hotel in Birmingham has a good variety of meeting space and its largest room is able to hold 240 in a cabaret layout. It also has a large amount of boardrooms varying from 6- 20 delegates- all the boardrooms, and the majority of the meeting space in general, have natural daylight. Their largest room has no obstructive pillars. The bedrooms are of a good standard with all the required amenities, they are also a really good size especially considering the hotels location. The venues biggest selling point is its location on the high street of Birmingham, allowing a short walk to pretty much anything you could possibly want. It is also only about a 4 minutes’ walk from the nearest station. The venue is a more traditional style and may not be to everyone’s taste. The location, while fantastic in terms of accessibility and local attractions, could be noisy at night.
Hilton Garden Inn Birmingham
The Hilton Garden Inn is located slightly out of the city centre but has some good meeting space that is typical of that of other Hiltons. The bedrooms are all a nice standard and are well appointed with all the required amenities. The hotel only has standard and twin rooms that follow a consistent standard, perfect for housing. multiple delegates fairly. They are all also the same in terms of décor with neutral tones that are likely to suit the majority of peoples taste. Across the board this venue is similar to other Hilton properties, so clients who know and love the Hilton brand will know what to expect. All of the bedrooms and meeting spaces have natural daylight as well. While the standard and consistency of the Hilton brand is what makes it so popular, it may not be suitable for clients who are looking for something a little bit out of the ordinary.
Radisson Blu Birmingham
The Radisson Blu Birmingham is an unmissable building made mostly out of glass and is currently the tallest building in Birmingham. Needless to say, natural daylight is in abundance in both meeting rooms and bedrooms. The styling throughout the venue is very nice with marble floors in the majority of the public areas and neutral colours. The bedroom styling is very nice with 3 different styles of decor to choose from, ensuring there is something for everyone. The Radisson’s largest room has a maximum capacity of 60 in a cabaret layout, meaning that the Radisson is not able to host any of the larger events, but is a fantastic option for any smaller meetings.
Novotel Birmingham
The Novotel Birmingham has 148 bedrooms, each of which are a good size and have all the required mod cons. All of the spaces in the hotel follow the similar styling of bright colours contrasting against neutral surroundings with modern and stylish furniture. The hotel has 8 meeting rooms with the largest holding up to 300 theatre style. They also have a space located adjacent to the Elements restaurant that is perfect for private dining. The Novotel Birmingham is very clean cut and modern, those clients requiring something with a little more character would not find this venue suitable for their needs.
