41 Portland Place is the home of the Academy of Medical Sciences and offers a range of period and modern conference spaces. It is a very charming venue accommodating small boardroom meetings for up to 80 delegates in some of its larger spaces. The venue benefits from an outdoor terrace which can be privately hired for drinks receptions and BBQs. It has a dedicated exhibition area for around 45 standing and its most shouted about space would be the Wolfson Conference Suite, It includes an interconnecting green room that can be used as a quiet room for interviews etc. The conference space has full built in AV including a blu ray player, full surround sound and I believe it is quite sound proof! It’s a great venue overall and it has great access just minutes from Oxford Circus.

All profits made by the venue are used to fund activities by the Academy of Medical Science to ensure research is rapidly translated into benefits for patients.

The venue has a great history behind it and strong medical link, great for those looking for an academic venue rather than a hotel!

The Royal College of Surgeons is a very prestigious venue offering great conference facilities in the heart of London. The venue boasts a modern 296-seater tiered auditorium along with the Edward Lumley Hall which works great as an exhibition and catering space. The Hall can also seat 280 for a sit down dinner with its own adjoining drinks reception room, The Webb Johnson. Both rooms are traditional with wooden panelled walls, wooden flooring and high ceilings. There are many other spaces for hire within the venue but my favourite and most interesting room would have to be the Hunterian Museum – it contains over 3000 preserved anatomical specimens displayed in glass cases. It’s a really unique space and is free to the public and delegates to visit during the day time. It can also be hired for private use in the evenings.

11 Cavendish Square are a little hidden gem on Cavendish Square. The venue has a dedicated conference centre within the Kings Fund offering an abundance of space over 3 floors. My favourite space would be on the ground floor where the Orangery is located along with the Burdette theatre. The Orangery has a beautiful, but small, garden space offering delegates a little breathe of fresh air. The space works well as a catering and exhibition space for around 150 delegates and up to 10 stands.  The first and second floor are your standard modern conference spaces with breakouts on either side. The venue also has a grade II listed townhouse offering a more traditional venue space maintaining many of its original features.

As the venue is academic, they can offer health and social care sectors a 20% discount on the room hire rates which is a great saving for those on a budget!

De Vere West One is located on Portland Place and is exactly what you would expect of the brand. The meeting rooms are bright, spacious and modern and offer shared breakout areas with unlimited teas, coffees and snacks. This venue would work great for training clients or even conferences that need lots of breakout spaces. The venue have a total of 29 meeting rooms across 5 floors and pride themselves as being a dedicated business spot in the heart of the West End.

The venue offers an all-inclusive package on their DDR’s so usually there are no additional costs.

11 Cavendish Square / The Kings Fund

Royal College of Surgeons

The venue has a great history behind it and strong medical link, great for those looking for an academic venue rather than a hotel!

Chandos is a beautiful Grade I listed Georgian townhouse dating back to 1769. The House has 6 meeting spaces and a garden terrace – great for summer BBQ’s or those wanting that outdoor space. The venue is situated just 5 minutes from Oxford Street providing great access for delegates. The house also has 17 guest bedrooms so this would work well for an organiser or delegates travelling in from outside of London or even those who need to start quite early before delegates arrive. The Robert Adam & James Adam meeting rooms are located on the ground floor along with the Terrace Room and the garden terrace. The Duke & Duchess rooms are located directly above on the first floor along with the Boardroom. The venue is decorated quite traditionally yet bright and airy. The ceilings throughout are a work of art and have been beautifully restored.

The Langham, located a few minutes’ walk away from the hustle of Oxford Street, is a beautifully decorated 5 star hotel still maintaining its Victorian charm.  The Grand Ballroom, the hotel’s largest space, has held many lavish events dating back to 1865 and also boasts a beautiful Rose Garden. It also has an adjoining foyer space perfect for pre-dinner drinks or catering space if the Ballroom is being used as meeting space. The venue has an additional 13 meeting spaces ranging in size all very similar in style. The hotel have done a great job of keeping the luxury feel throughout its meeting spaces and they also have a whopping 380 bedrooms.

The venue is in a great location with access to many tube stations within a few minutes’ walk.

Chandos House

The venue is linked to 1 Wimpole Street, the Royal Society of Medicine. Perfect venue for Pharmaceutical clients and it has a great history behind it including the Grand Staircase ceiling being bombed in World War II.

De Vere West One

De Vere West One is located on Portland Place and is exactly what you would expect of the brand. The meeting rooms are bright, spacious and modern and offer shared breakout areas with unlimited teas, coffees and snacks. This venue would work great for training clients or even conferences that need lots of breakout spaces. The venue have a total of 29 meeting rooms across 5 floors and pride themselves as being a dedicated business spot in the heart of the West End.

The venue offers an all-inclusive package on their DDR’s so usually there are no additional costs.

11 Cavendish Square / The Kings Fund

Royal College of Surgeons

The venue has a great history behind it and strong medical link, great for those looking for an academic venue rather than a hotel!

Hallam Conference Centre, located in Marylebone, is a traditional grade II listed conference and training venue. Upon entry to the conference centre, you will be greeted by one of Hallam’s friendly staff to direct you to the correct meeting room. The venue pride themselves on great customer service and I do feel I experienced this on my visit. Downstairs opposite the reception desk there is a bright and airy catering/exhibition space (Regent Suite) which is great for an arrival area for all delegates, this is especially useful for larger conferences. Upstairs there is the Council Chamber, the venues largest space, and this can seat up to 135 cabaret on half-moons. There is a balcony behind to secretly place your AV tech providing no distractions to your conference and smooth running. There are a couple of other smaller meeting spaces so these work well as breakouts or on their own as training rooms.

The venue originally started life purpose built as the headquarters for the General Medical Council so it’s worth bearing this in mind for those who would prefer a venue with an academic or medical link!

The venue has a great history behind it and strong medical link, great for those looking for an academic venue rather than a hotel!

41 Portland Place

The Langham Hotel

Chandos House

Chandos House

Royal College of Surgeons

The venue has a great history behind it and strong medical link, great for those looking for an academic venue rather than a hotel!

41 Portland Place

Park Crescent Conference Centre

Park crescent is located opposite Great Portland Tube station so this offers easy access for delegates. The centre’s main space, the Theatre, has its own entrance and registration space so perfect for slightly larger numbers and avoids lost delegates! The remaining space at the conference centre is an abundance of smaller meeting spaces perfect for training courses. They are located close by to the Theatre so also work well as syndicate rooms. All the meeting rooms have natural daylight and are decorated quite modern with a splash of colour on each door.

The venue is part of the International Student House so they will really try to work to most budgets as all profits made go back into the charity.

Hallam Conference Centre

The Langham Hotel
