Chairman of the BEVP, Michael Hirst, has announced that business visits were up 11.5% year on year and that the value of the events industry to Britain’s visitor economy has risen from just over £39.1bn to £42.3bn.  This has been helped by higher attendance and spend at conferences, music festivals and the Rugby World Cup.  The value of the UK events sector is expected to rise to £48bn by 2020, according to the Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP).  This represents a 15% rise from the current £41.6bn value.

On the 19th October, Britain for Events announced that James Heappey MP will lead a reformed All Party Parliamentary Group for events.
