Exploring multi-purpose venues that offer flexibility for corporate events
When planning a corporate event, the choice of venue plays a pivotal role in shaping the experience. While traditional conference centres are reliable, exploring unique,...
I was really impressed with the destination, as for groups it offers both excellent hotels, and wide array of activities and excursions. In my time there we visited the Lavaux vineyards for a wine-tasting, the Montreux Christmas Market, chocolate-making in Vevey (the home of Nestlé), and Chillon Castle. Being located between the mountains and the lake would also make a wide variety of physical activities possible. In particular Chillon Castle was fantastic, as spaces can be privatised for dinners, receptions and dances, while the castle has been built on a small island on Lake Geneva. I would highly recommend the destination to MICE bookers for anyone looking for either a small get-away meeting, a large conference, or something in between!

The Fairmont Montreux Palace is a five-star hotel on the lakeside, and is a 5 minute walk from Montreux Station. Built in the early 1900’s, the hotel has been lovingly maintained, and boasts a wealth of both heritage meeting rooms, and modern meeting facilities in an interconnected conference centre. The hotel also offers a range of bedrooms (either with city views, or stunning lake views) which are all of a high standard, and are decorated in a classic traditional style, without being kitsch. Additionally, the hotel offers a breakfast restaurant that can be used for conference lunches, as well as the superb MP’S Bar & Grill, and the lively Funky Claude’s Bar, which is centred around the living heritage of the Montreux Jazz Festival.

This weekend I had the pleasure of visiting the Montreux Riviera, courtesy of the Fairmont Montreux Palace and the Swiss Convention Bureau. Flying in from Heathrow to Geneva Airport, the towns of Vevey and Montreux are an hour’s journey by rail, along the scenic shores of Lake Geneva. The Montreux Riviera, at the furthest end of the Lake from the city of Geneva, is tucked by the lake, in between the mountains and vineyards of the Lavaux region. The region faces the lake and the French Mountains on the other side, and provides a mesmerising view.
