ACC Liverpool is a leader in sustainable event hosting, having achieved Green Meetings Gold Accreditation and Platinum status in the Greengage ECOsmart Certification. The venue incorporates energy-efficient technologies such as air-sourced heat pumps and LED lighting, alongside robust waste reduction and recycling programs. It actively promotes biodiversity through onsite initiatives and has reached carbon neutral status, with a clear goal to achieve carbon net zero by 2030.

With a formalised sustainability roadmap, Ashorne Hill demonstrate how real change can come from a series of small steps building to a big impact. They have some innovative ideas for cutting down on food waste, and they have made sensible switches in the meeting rooms to cut down on waste without affecting the delegate experience.

As part of Apex Hotels, Apex Grassmarket Hotel has achieved Gold Green Tourism Accreditation. Switching to 100% renewable electricity sourced from Scottish wind farms; eliminating single-use plastics (removing 900,000 single-use plastics from waste and supply chain), 100% car parks have EV charging stations and implementing a zero-landfill policy since 2019; 50% of waste is recycled; 56,000 plastic guest door keys replaced with eco-friendly alternative bamboo and 25% of all foods are sourced locally.

Sustainability and wellbeing are an integral part of the venue, being the healthiest building in Liverpool and the North West and one of the healthiest in the UK. Accredited with the international WELL Building Standard and BREEAM certifications, the venue scores highly for energy and water efficiency, low impact on the environment, a sustainable approach, and design which supports physical and mental health and wellbeing. The standard focuses on ten factors – Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Movement, Thermal Comfort, Sound, Materials, Mind and Community – and all of these have been incorporated into The Spine’s design to create a happy, healthy environment to leave colleagues and clients feeling refreshed, relaxed and re-energised!

The Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel leads the way in sustainable hospitality, holding ECOSmart Gold and Green Tourism Gold accreditations. The hotel reduces its environmental impact through energy-efficient systems, the elimination of single-use plastics, water-saving measures, and waste reduction. It offers digital alternatives to paper, sustainable catering, and locally sourced products. Guests and staff are encouraged to adopt eco-friendly practices, and the hotel’s sustainability plan is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals — ensuring greener events without compromising quality or comfort.

At Edgbaston Stadium, the importance of sustainable practices is central to their focus on delivering events, packages and operations. They have not only pledged to reduce energy usage, increase recycling & improve waste management, reduce carbon footprint, and invest in the education, health & wellbeing, but are actively taking strides towards meeting these, through a combination of strategic partnerships with like minded suppliers, removing single-use plastic & segregating their waste, and have brought on a Sustainability Manager to focus on learning more and growing in this space. They are aiming to be Net Zero by 2030 to create a positive and lasting impact for the people and local area itself.

The Corner London City is a leading sustainable hotel that reduces CO₂ emissions by 67% and uses 41% less water than typical hotels. It employs energy-efficient LED lighting, solar panels, and water-saving fixtures, alongside interiors made with reclaimed materials. The hotel encourages guest participation in its green efforts through optional housekeeping, rewarding guests with bar vouchers. With Green Tourism Gold and ECOsmart Gold awards, it perfectly blends eco-conscious practices with stylish, comfortable stays.

Sitting with London’s Green Enterprise District, the venue uses advanced technology to minimise energy use. The glass that forms the cladding is different depending on which side of the building it is from to work with the environment, not against.

Eastwood Hall is a leader in the environmental space, and have recently been recognised by being awarded the Green Tourism Gold accreditation, and have been shortlisted as a finalist for the Visit Nottingham Regenerative Tourism Award. It’s focuses on every area of the climate initiatives space, from tracking the lifecycle of their food, including sourcing and transport, reducing their direct environmental effects such as using 100% renewable energy, with electric car charges powered by solar, all the way to voltage optimisation, and installing their very own CHP engines, to produce their own electricity to measurably reduce their CO2 output by 80 tonnes a year!

Making sustainability a core part of its operations, the SEC aims to achieve net zero by 2030 across five key areas: climate, governance, partnership, people, and resources. Following its role as host of the United Nations Climate Change Conference SEC now sources 100% of its electricity from renewables and has implemented the ISO 20121 sustainable event management system.

voco Grand Central Glasgow takes a thoughtful approach to sustainability, holding Green Key certification and using IHG’s Green Engage™ system to track energy, water, and waste. Guest rooms feature recycled bedding, refillable vegan toiletries, and water-saving fixtures. The hotel eliminates single-use plastics by offering filtered water in glass bottles. For meetings, its “Conscious Connections” package includes tree planting for each delegate, digital materials, and locally sourced, sustainable catering.

As an iconic central London venue, BMA House not only sees thousands of visitors each year for MICE events, but do so with a huge focus on providing sustainable solutions. With a handful of accreditations including ECOsmart Accreditation – Platinum, Green Tourism Accreditation – Gold, and multiple awards across the years for sustainability initiatives, they are continually pursuing and promoting sustainable practices. They have released their environmental strategy plan for 2022-2030, so there is still much more to come!
