A new metro station has just opened at Lisbon Airport enabling passengers and visitors to travel to the city centre in just 15 minutes. This development has made a significant impact to improve access to Lisbon Airport, thus constituting an important hub for air passengers. There are three transit levels: main lobby for airport access, intermediate floor and platform.
The station is now one of the Red Line stations, with connections to the stations of Oriente (Parque das Nações), Saldanha and São Sebastião, the latter with a connection to Marques de Pombal station, on the Blue line, thus allowing a fast and convenient access to the city’s prime areas. The airport metro station is majestic and striking, not only for its dynamic and contemporary architecture – as well as the decor, which is signed by the Portuguese cartoonist “Antonio” of leading Portuguese figures, representative of the 20th century, carved in stone and embedded in the walls throughout the station.
