Scheduled to open in 2020, Six Senses Kitzbühel Alps will include 80 guest rooms, 50 residences, and a small village of chalets available for private sale. Featuring a design that Six Senses calls a “modern interpretation of traditional Austrian design” — with a focus on natural wood and stone finishes, including exposed timber beams — it also will have an all-day restaurant serving international fare prepared with locally sourced ingredients, a spa, and an onsite wellness program through which in-house experts will give lifestyle and nutritional advice to guests, who will have the option of receiving a personalized program of spa treatments, fitness, and wellness activities.

The Austrian Alps are best known as the iconic backdrop to Julie Andrews in the opening scene of the 1965 film The Sound of Music. Soon, however, incentive travellers will be able to appreciate the scenery as much as film buffs do thanks to Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, which yesterday announced plans to open a new resort in Kitzbühel, near Austria’s High Tauern National Park — the largest nature reserve in the Alps.
