Barcelo hotel group is set to open its first five-star hotel in Madrid this year. The Barceló Emperatriz hotel is planned to open in the last quarter of the year.The chain aims to carry out a full refurbishment of the hotel to not only improve quality but also to give it a distinctive character in which everything revolves round the last French empress, Eugenia de Montijo.  The 19th century palatial style will be reinterpreted and adapted to the needs of MICE guests, resulting in a luxury version of the original.
