For those of you travelling to Spain please note that the general VAT rate will increase to 21% from the current 18% (from August 1st according to market reports) and the reduced tax to 10% from the prior 8%. The minimum tax remains at 4%. Spain uses a three-tiered tax system with products placed in each category depending on use and necessity.
